The Kirkhams at Rollesby

About us
We retired in 1999, after serving our last parishes of North Chapel with Ebernoe in West Sussex for 12 years. During that time Gerald was Rural Chaplain to the Bishop of Horsham and Vice-chairman of Sussex Rural Community Council. We lived in the Rectory at North Chapel. Anne coped with this largish house and the extensive grounds (which included two 1/4 mile drives). Fortunately for our sanity both drives opened out across the road from the Half-Moon Inn, the scene of great fun and some really spiritual times.

In retirement...
We came to Norfolk because our daughter, her husband and their family came first. It hasn't all been plain sailing for we have been subject to a good deal of life threatening illness, the onset of arthritis and the loss of Missy our lovely 12 year old Jack Russell bitch to Canine Lymphona. Our daughter has also suffered, but is now a Nurse Manager in a psychiatric hospital. Our grandaughter is a nurse in the same hospital, and our grandson has embarked on a career in undertaking. Our son-in-law is disabled (he was a paramedic but was injured during rescuing people from the Grand Hotel, Brighton on the night it was bombed). His condition worsened and he was invalided out of the ambulance service.

Keeping busy...
The local church members have welcomed us into their midst. Gerald helps the Rector with cover for services within the benefice, and keeps his hand in taking funerals within the Gt Yarmouth area. Anne always says that she keeps busy looking after Gerald so that he can minister to others.
